The Seven Mile Road Lesson...

Gang nach Emmaus - Robert Zünd

This is not a typical post. Little commentary is needed, in my Scripture studies I found a great lesson...

"It was the day of the Preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near.

The women, who had come with him out of Galilee, followed after, and saw the tomb, and how his body was laid. They returned and prepared spices and ointments.

On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they and some others came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. They entered in, and didn’t find the Lord Jesus’ body. While they were greatly perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling clothing.

Becoming terrified, they bowed their faces down to the earth. They said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

He isn’t here, but is risen. Remember what He told you when he was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and the third day rise again?”

They remembered his words, returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

Now they were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James.

The other women with them told these things to the apostles. These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn’t believe them.

But Peter got up and ran to the tomb.

Stooping and looking in, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he departed to his home, wondering what had happened.

Behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia (seven miles) from Jerusalem. They talked with each other about all of these things which had happened.

While they talked and questioned together, Jesus himself came near, and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing Him.

He said to them, “What are you talking about as you walk, and are sad?

One of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who doesn’t know the things which have happened there in these days?”

He said to them, “What things?

They said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus, the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people; and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.

But we were hoping that it was he who would redeem Israel.

Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.

Also, certain women of our company amazed us, having arrived early at the tomb; and when they didn’t find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. Some of us went to the tomb, and found it just like the women had said, but they didn’t see Him.”

He said to them, “Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Didn’t the Christ have to suffer these things and

They came near to the village where they were going, and He acted like he would go further. They urged him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is almost over.”

He went in to stay with them. When He had sat down at the table with them, He took the bread and gave thanks. Breaking it, He gave it to them. Their eyes were opened and they recognized Him, then He vanished out of their sight.

They said to one another, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us, while He spoke to us along the way, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

They rose up that very hour, returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them, saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”

They related the things that happened along the way, and how He was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.

As they said these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be to you.

But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

He said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.

When He had said this, He showed them his hands and his feet.

While they still didn’t believe for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?

They gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.

He took them, and ate in front of them. He said to them, “This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled.

Then He opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures.

He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

You are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send out the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.

He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

While He blessed them, He withdrew from them, and was carried up into heaven. They worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen." (Luke 23:55-56 to Luke 24:1-53)

What does this seven mile road lesson tell us?

Almighty God is sovereign and unchanging. He is the loving, kind, merciful, gracious forgiving Abba Father and He has provided the Torah, the Prophets and Psalms as a road map to point toward the destination of life's journey with Messiah Yeshua - Jesus the Nazarene, the risen one.

That's the seven mile road lesson.

If you have not experienced it, Almighty Elohim God is calling your name. He wants to offer you and the world redemption, salvation and remission from sin through forgiveness. He provides the road to walk with Messiah from the outer court to the inner court.

Consider a prayer: Please, God, guide me as to what I should do.

It's time for you to repent and return to God's voice, return to hear and do His word and walk in the faith of His Kingdom path so that you can ready your lamp for your coming assignment.

You can choose to make the first step with repentance. Take a look at your life and repent of any wrongdoing, immorality or transgression of God's ways. Ask Elohim God for His mercy and grace promise of forgiveness and accept His gift of love and supplication through Messiah Yeshua. Then walk with Him and open your Bible, but remember what He said:
"For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven..." Matthew 5:18-19
If you know in your heart that you need to get your life right with God, if you know you need to walk out life in God's ways, not your own, seek to follow in His instruction and make them your own. Don’t wait for tomorrow, start your walk on the seven-mile road to Emmaus with Yeshua the Nazarene by grabbing the robe of the resurrected Messiah. If we are not walking like Messiah, who are we following?

Our way as believers in Yeshua as the resurrected Messiah is to walk like He walked, talk like He talked, read the Bible He read. Yeshua is acting as our High Priest mediator before the right hand of Almighty God, He is looking for your response in choice to pursue His righteous ways that can be found through God's teaching and instruction.

Yeshua will walk with you too on your life's journey. If you'll listen to Him and follow Him, you can learn the principles of Kingdom lifestyle in the Most Holy Place which are written in the law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Writings. The point to Messiah. They are about Yeshua, your privilege is you get to do them and teach others what you've learned.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:16-17
Today is the time, open your eyes and see Messiah beginning from Moses and from all the Prophets and the Psalms.
"If you had believed Moses, you would believe Me, because he wrote about Me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?”… John 5:46-47
Choose to walk your life's journey in God's mercy with Messiah from the Outer Court into the Most Holy Place. Study and do the Scriptures He taught that are filled with meaning because of Him that rest beside the Ark of the Covenant in the Most Holy Place.

His name is Yeshua - Jesus of Nazareth and His name expresses not only his identity but His mission to save us from sin's death grip and show us the way to holiness in a royal bondservant priesthood as God's people declared in the Torah lived out by Yeshua and confirmed by Peter the disciple:
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Exodus 19:5-6.
They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 1Peter 2:8-10
Shalom.
