Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: The Truth About the West Bank

The "Mountains of Israel" are
the so-called West Bank.


This is not a typical commentary. Jesus (Yeshua) did not teach in a so-called "occupied territory" now called the West Bank or the Golan.

Not only that He was born in Bethlehem and grew up in Nazareth.

In fact, the whole Bible reveals the truth about the West Bank. It's simple really. It is the area west of the Jordan River that is Judea and Samaria. It is the thousands year old home of the Jewish people. The fact is you cannot occupy your own home, you live in it.

Yeshua taught Torah aka the Hebrew Bible in synagogues in His homeland that included the Jordan Valley. He also taught in the Golan as His ministry extended north in the Galilee region as He explained the promise of God's Kingdom to come 2,000 years ago.

Today, the world's media and politicians have dubbed Judea and Samaria as an "occupied" West Bank because the people of Judea are called Jews, and that's why the media reject the true name. It's as if the Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians and Amorites are back causing chaos and havoc again with Israel.

Despite the opinions of antisemitic, far left liberal media organizations as well as the PA and the PLO many of the Arabs that live and work in Judea and Samaria love Israel and many of them beleive it or not also love Jesus the Jew. but they too suffer persecution. At the end of World War II, Bethlehem's population and the area around the city was 85 percent Christian, today it's around 10 percent and across Judea and Samaria Arab Christians now account for less than 2 percent of the population.

The reason: there are radical gangster terrorists in the land that want to make it an outpost of Mecca and Medina.

Many migrant Arabs moved into Judea and Samaria after World War I when the Ottomans lost control. At the same time, Jewish agricultural and economic development in the area created perhaps the most scarce economic commodity in the MidEast... jobs in the former desolation and swamps.

Then in 1967, after the miracle of the Six Day War, Israeli communities began to come back to life in ancient Judea and Samaria.

Few people lived or sought to move there before the land's restoration began. If you don't believe me, that's fine, but what about Mark Twain?

In his first reality, non-fiction book, Mark Twain aka Samuel Clemens (1835-1910) published a journal of the 50 reports he wrote during his 1867 travels across Europe and the Promised Land. At that time, Jerusalem was under the weight of the dominion of the caliphate of the Ottoman Empire headquartered in today's Turkey.

Twain titled the 1869 book, “The Innocents Abroad" after the title line of his letters that appeared syndicated as a journalist's report from aboard the steamship Quaker City in many leading American newspapers: "Traveling with the Innocents Abroad." Te ship left port from New York on June 8, 1867. Amazingly, 100 years later, the first full day that Jerusalem was back under Israel's control was June 8, 1967!

Nearing the end of the Ottoman rule, Mark Twain traveled with 77 others recorded how sparsely populated the area was, as it had become a desert devoid of human life. However, as Jewish settlers moved in, they drained the swamps and improved the lands that they had purchased during the British Mandate period immediately after World War I, and many Arabs from surrounding areas moved in seeking jobs.

In addition to the modern Jewish restoration of the land, some 2,600 years ago, just before the Jewish exile to Babylon, the prophet Zephaniah was told by God to record for the world that the Hebrew language would be restored one day and why.

That was a strange prophecy at the time, after all, Alexander the Great would not be born until 356 BC and Greek dominion or its language had not spread its influence to the Middle East. Hebrew was still spoken, so a prophecy about its return had to be mindbending:
"For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent." Zephaniah 3:9 KJV
Can you imagine what Zephaniah was thinking as he recorded God's promise? After all everyone he knew spoke Hebrew.

Later, another promise was given to Jeremiah after the same Babylonian exile as Almighty God revealed righteous restoration would also come to the land of Judah and the holy hill of Jerusalem:
"Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel,
"Once again they will speak this word in the land of Judah
and in its cities when I restore their fortunes,
'The LORD bless you, O abode of righteousness,
O holy hill!'" Jeremiah 31:23
To be restored means something is in need of repair. Hebrew was lost because the land was desolate just as Mark Twain had described.

Zephaniah is the prophet that also dutifully recorded these words from the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel:
"Gather together, yes, gather, O shameless nation, before the decree takes effect -- before the day passes away like chaff -- before there comes upon you the burning anger of the LORD, before there comes upon you the day of the anger of the LORD. 
"I have heard the taunts of Moab and the revilings of the Ammonites, how they have taunted my people and made boasts against their territory. 
Therefore, as I live," declares the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Moab shall become like Sodom, and the Ammonites like Gomorrah, a land possessed by nettles and salt pits, and a waste forever. The remnant of my people shall plunder them, and the survivors of my nation shall possess them." Zephaniah 2:1-2; Zephaniah  8-9
The truth is hard for the world to understand about the West Bank. It's Judea and Samaria!

It's hidden in plain sight because people among the nations ignore the word of God., many of them say it's old and done away with. Sadly many of them are in the "church" claiming God's words of instruction and promise for life in the Kingdom of God are dead, hung on the cross. Yet the death on the cross was accomplished as the death penalty for sin. Yeshua the branch of all Israel took on that sin as a branch of the tree of Israel and He arose in resurrection, awakened from his three day sleep in the grave. Zechariah 3, Zechariah 6 and Zechariah 8 speaks of it and the promise of peace to come to Israel through the two offices of Messiah, Priest and King!
"Now listen, Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who are sitting in front of you—indeed they are men who are a symbol, for behold, I am going to bring in My servant the Branch. For behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; on one stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave an inscription on it,’ declares the LORD of hosts, ‘and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. ‘In that day,’ declares the LORD of hosts, ‘every one of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and under his fig tree.’” Zechariah 3:8-10  
Then say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, “Behold, a man whose name is Branch, for He will branch out from where He is; and He will build the temple of the LORD. Yes, it is He who will build the temple of the LORD, and He who will bear the honor and sit and rule on His throne. Thus, He will be a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two offices.”’ Now the crown will become a reminder in the temple of the LORD to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah and Hen the son of Zephaniah. Those who are far off will come and build the temple of the LORD.” Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. And it will take place if you completely obey the LORD your God. Zechariah 6:12-15  
For there will be peace for the seed: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things. It will come about that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you that you may become a blessing. Do not fear; let your hands be strong.’" Zechariah 8: 12-13
The crazy thing about these prophecies is: if the prophet's words are long gone, hung on a tree as some proclaim, then why do they call them prophets?

The reality is the word of God stands unchanged forever.

The truth about the West Bank is in the Bible. It is Judea and Samaria and a part of the land allotted by the God of Israel for His people. Today, there are some 350,000 Jewish souls living in the tiny area of one of the biggest prophetic news stories the world will ever read: "I will save you that you may become a blessing. Do not fear; let your hands be strong." "Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you."

When we look north at the area bordering Southern Syria, we have to realize Yeshua of Nazareth did not gather his twelve disciples from an area called the Golan Heights.

The truth is that the land area described in the Bible called the Golan Heights is the Galilee and the land of Manasseh.

Before that it was once called Bashan the land of Og and Golan was the capital of his Amorite kingdom. King Og attacked Moses as Israel returned to the promised land and the giant lost the battle to the people that carried the Torah of God. Instead of welcoming them, Og chose to attack and Bashan fell as its king went to the grave. Remember Og attacked.

The name may be changed but the truth remains: the Golan Heights is a part of the covenant land of promise and the people of God will be restored to God's eternal promise. The Galilee is a big part of the Kingdom to come promise Yeshua declared, so is the West Bank. The truth is it's Judea and Samaria.

Yeshua's words will not fall void on a modern map or headline. The promises Yeshua declared were not new, they were given to Abraham, then Isaac and Jacob, not Ishmael, Esau or king Og of Bashan.

Ezekiel gives the world an amazing prophecy coming about today as the mountains of Judea and Samaria. They were occupied by Jordan until the Jordanian-Israeli armistice of 1949 but will soon be redeemed.

Ezekiel's words speak truth today about the land promise, just as they did yesterday:
"And thou, son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say: You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD.

Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because the enemy hath said against you:

Aha! even the ancient high places are ours in possession; therefore prophesy, and say: Thus saith the Lord GOD:

Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the rest of the nations, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people; therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD:

Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains and to the hills, to the streams and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which are become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are round about; therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: 
Surely in the fire of My jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, that have appointed My land unto themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with disdain of soul, to cast it out for a prey; therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains and to the hills, to the streams and to the valleys:

Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and in My fury, because you have borne the shame of the nations; therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: I have lifted up My hand: Surely the nations that are round about you, they shall bear their shame.

But you, O mountains of Israel, you shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to My people Israel; for they are at hand to come.

For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and you shall be tilled and sown; and I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded; and I will multiply upon you man and beast, and they shall increase and be fruitful; and I will cause you to be inhabited after your former estate, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings; and ye shall know that I am the LORD." Ezekiel 36:1-11 
"And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

And David my servant [shall be] king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, [even] they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David [shall be] their prince for ever.

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore." Ezekiel 37:22-28 
The Bible, not a headline is the key to understanding the everlasting covenant of the land. God never changed His mind about His deep love for the Jewish people and their end days assignment that He has given the Jewish people to prepare the land like a garden for the return of Messiah.

Look at Israel today and you will see that prophecy is alive and well. We are living in Bible times!

There are many prophecies that have engaged since Isaiah's wrote of the nation to be born in a day on May 14, 1948!

That day in 1948 was Iyar 5th. It was the 20 day of the Omer Count after Passover on God's calendar.

If you're not familiar with God's calendar that has been kept by the Jewish people for thousands of years, you need to know Yeshua ascended on  the 40th day of the Omer Count on the 25th day of Iyar.

As He gave an assignment to His disciples about Judea and Samaria and put a bookend to the 40 days of fasting that started His ministry in a wilderness area near the Jordan River, perhaps the Jordan Valley.

If you say you believe the Bible, 1948 should be your wake up call.
Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be brought forth in one moment? For as soon as Zion was in labor she brought forth her children. Isaiah 66:8
Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone … and bring them into their own land Ezekiel 37:21 
He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; He will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four corners of the earth. Isaiah 11:12
Shortly after the nation was reborn, the Knesset voted to make Hebrew the official language of Israel. Thanks to Eliezer Ben-Yehuda the prophecy of Zephaniah 3:9 was fulfilled:
For at that time I will change the speech of the peoples to a pure speech,
that all of them may call upon the name of the LORD and serve him with one accord.
Isaiah declared that Israel's deserts would produce abundant fruit and that is now an everyday occurrence in Israel and Europe's supermarkets are filled with Israeli fruit harvests. The Israeli farming success is so great it is being exported to the world by MASHAV in fulfillment of Isaiah 27:6:
In days to come Jacob shall take root, Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots
and fill the whole world with fruit.
Not only that, returning Jews have planted hundreds of millions of trees and water them with advanced computer controlled irrigation systems. They have also planted wineries everywhere. There are over 300 of them in the former dry land fulfilling the words of Jeremiah and Amos:
Again you shall plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria;
the planters shall plant and shall enjoy the fruit. Jeremiah 31:5 
Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD,
when the plowman shall overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed; the mountains shall drip sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it. Amos 9:13
Not only that, Zechariah warned that in the end Jerusalem would become a city of conflict. Today, it is at the center of the so-called Israeli-Palestinian conflict, debated across the world. Jerusalem has again become the focus of world attention in its prominence as God's witness to the world.
On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it. Zechariah 12:3 
On June 10, 1967 Israel took back Jerusalem as the city holding God's name at the end of the Six Day War. Importantly, was day 46 of the Omer Count, Sivan 2 and it was non other than a Sabbath day:
On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a blazing pot in the midst of wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves. And they shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place, in Jerusalem. Zechariah 12:6
There are many other prophecies, these just scratch the surface.

It's the original message of the deceiver to fall for the idea that God does not mean what He says or that He changes His mind about Israel. Don't listen to that message any longer. It's a lie from the pit.

Most people don't realize the truth about the mountains of Israel in Judea and Samaria because they ignore God's promises in the most published book of all time.

They do not believe the words of Jesus in Matthew 24 either. They think that Judea and Samaria are occupied, but the occupiers are the people that reject the God of Israel.


The thing is the boundary stones of the Bible have been moved.

God instructed Moses to declare:
“You shall not move your neighbor’s boundary mark, which the ancestors have set, in your inheritance which you will inherit in the land that the LORD your God gives you to possess." Deuteronomy 19:14
This inheritance instruction comes before a dire warning:

"Cursed is anyone who moves their neighbor's boundary stone." Deuteronomy 27:17

The Student Alliance for Israel is Ithaca College's student organization dedicated to supporting Israel summarizes the truth:
"Palestine was never an exclusively Arab country, although Arabic gradually became the language of most the population after the Muslim invasions of the seventh century. No independent Arab or Palestinian state ever existed in Palestine. When the distinguished Arab-American historian, Princeton University Prof. Philip Hitti, testified against partition before the Anglo-American Committee in 1946, he said: "There is no such thing as 'Palestine' in history, absolutely not."

Prior to partition, the people we call Palestinian Arabs did not view themselves as having a separate identity. When the First Congress of Muslim-Christian Associations met in Jerusalem in February 1919 to choose their representatives for the upcoming Paris Peace Conference, the following resolution was adopted:

"We consider Palestine as part of Arab Syria, as it has never been separated from it at any time. We are connected with it by national, religious, linguistic, natural, economic and geographical bonds.

In 1937, a local Arab leader, Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi, told the Peel Commission, which ultimately suggested the partition of Palestine these words: "There is no such country! 'Palestine' is a term the Zionists invented! There is no Palestine in the Bible. Our country was for centuries part of Syria."

Later, the representative of the Arab Higher Committee to the United Nations submitted a statement to the General Assembly in May 1947 that said: "Palestine was part of the Province of Syria" and that, "politically, the Arabs of Palestine were not independent in the sense of forming a separate political entity."

A few years later, Ahmed Shuqeiri, who became the chairman of the PLO, told the Security Council: "It is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but southern Syria. Palestinian Arab nationalism is largely a post-World War I phenomenon that did not become a significant political movement until after the 1967 Six-Day War and Israel's capture of the West Bank."
Get this, when the distinguished Arab-American historian, Princeton University Professor Philip Hitti, testified against the partition before the Anglo-American Committee in 1946, he said: “There is no such thing as ‘Palestine’ in history, absolutely not.”

That is the truth.

Nearly 100 years ago, The Balfour Declaration set the stage for the establishment of the modern nation state of Israel.


Three years later after the close of WW I, The Council of the League of Nations declared The Palestine Mandate in 1920:

"Whereas the Principal Allied Powers have also agreed that the Mandatory should be responsible for putting into effect the declaration originally made on November 2nd, 1917, by the Government of His Britannic Majesty, and adopted by the said Powers, in favor of the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, it being clearly understood that nothing should be done which might prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country..."
This map from Eli Hertz clearly shows the mandate that started with Balfour's Declaration. Take note, there is no West Bank or Jordan for that matter. After all, it only showed up as an Emirate in 1921.


The so-called West Bank is post 1948 headline fiction. The headline definition of the West Bank arose from the Jordanian-Israeli armistice of 1949.

BBC News provides a historic map view over time of the conflict that first arose with the events of 1947 at the United Nations. The BBC clearly shows the areas that are in the headlines each day.

Its time to consider what may be the future of the West Bank, it is connected to Jerusalem's future and the Temple Mount:
"When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (who so readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains" Matthew 24:15-16
Jesus said there will be tribulation in Judea and Jerusalem.

It was if He said if you think there was grave tribulation in 168 BC when a statue of Zeus was put up by Antiochus you haven't seen the final horror just yet.

Yeshua's warning for Judea was spoken some 200 years after the Maccabees.

In 70 AD the Roman General Titus and killed those that did not heed Yeshua's grave warning. not long after the Legions destroyed the people of Judea, Roman Emperor Hadrian had a statue of Jupiter and himself put on top of the Temple Mount.

Prophecy cycles, so this may occur again. The gospel of the kingdom of Messiah Yeshua has not been preached throughout the world as a testimony to all nations and it certainly has not been preached in Judea.

Yeshua speaks of the gospel of the Kingdom of God:
“This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14
Notice Jesus says: then the end will come.

Whether you believe this or not, one thing is certain, the West Bank aka Judea and Samaria have a great promise and future as the end of desolations will come.

For now, Palestinian desolations include: violence, terror attacks, stone throwing, stabbings, shootings and the murder of innocent Jewish men women and children. These desolations are accelerating as a result of a Arab Palestinian hatred not seen since the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.

A future key to the storyline for Judea and Samaria is found in the prophecy of Genesis 24:60 given to Rebecca:
"They blessed Rebekah and said to her,
'May you, our sister,
Become thousands of ten thousands,
And may your descendants possess
The gate of those who hate them'" 
The future of the West Bank is its past as Judea and Samaria.

Long ago the conflict that is in the news began with the Babylonians. After they marched on Jerusalem and captured the city taking the Jewish people into exile there was a king named Baalis.

He was the king of Ammon, whose kingdom was located in current-day Jordan. He objected to a continued Jewish presence in the West Bank because he hated the Jewish people and wanted to annex the west bank of the Jordan River into his kingdom.

He was angry when he discovered that the Babylonians had appointed Gedaliah to be governor of the Judea and Samaria and he was incensed that a small number of peasant Jews that remained behind would be given the right to farm the land and live without the control of Babylon. So Baalis devised a plan to kill Gedaliah. He convinced Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to carry out the assassination.

Sound familiar? Terrorism is not new to the Middle East; since 1964 it has been a PLO legacy in the the West Bank.


In a deep sense, God’s hidden hand becomes visible in the behavior of the enemies of the Jewish people. Today, Palestinian terror and attacks remain as does the name Ishmael. There is still grave international pressure to divide the heartland of Judea and Samaria, to cut away the west bank of the land area promised the Jewish people and give it away turning it into a false reality to create a Palestinian State.

It's a very old plan from the deceiver to thwart God's promise given to Abraham. This peace plan that divides is an abomination of desolation because it is against God's covenant promise given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Today, we see it manifested at the Temple Mount like the days of Nebuchadnezzar as prayer to the God of Israel is desolate on the mountain of God's House of Prayer.

When the final desolation of sacrilege from the apocalyptic prophecies described to Daniel and repeated by Yeshua of Nazareth becomes a reality with a man standing in this holy place of the name of the living God of Israel, declaring himself to be the living God, it will be time to run for the hills.

What can you do about Judea and Samaria right now?

It is time to pray, time to repent of sin and transgression and time to honor God's covenant, time to return to hear and do His word. It is time walk in the faith of the gospel of His Kingdom so that you can ready your lamp for your coming assignment and stand with Israel and its people in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria.

The reason, the God of Israel is sovereign and His promises are secure. The Almighty has given us the Biblical prophets to warn us in advance of these things because He is a loving, merciful God and a time of judgment is coming just as foretold by Jeremiah.

Daniel studied Jeremiah and said so, Jesus confirmed it and He has done something about it.

He provides a way to offer all people redemption and salvation from judgment under the atonement of His life offering and resurrection. You can make the choice to accept what He has done and believe and declare the gospel of Yeshua which is the Kingdom of Messiah ben David to come.

You can accept God's gift of eternal life in the Kingdom to come. If you have not done so, it's time to consider carefully what your life is like without the Messiah of Israel, look at it and repent of your sins, ask for forgiveness, turn and accept His gift of love through Messiah Yeshua and walk His way toward The Kingdom.

Do it now, He stands in the Most Holy Place at the Mercy Seat waiting for you!

Update September 26, 2014: One News Page reports.... At the U.N. today, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas accused Israel of genocide and he demanded a deadline to end Israeli "occupation" of the West Bank:
In a speech at the U.N. General Assembly Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas accused Israel on Friday of conducting a "war of genocide" during the 50-day summer conflict in Gaza but stopped short of saying he will pursue war crime charges against the Jewish state at the International Criminal Court. Abbas said, "This last war against Gaza was a series of absolute war crimes carried out before the eyes and ears of the entire world, moment by moment."

He continued, saying the devastation unleashed "is unmatched in modern times." Abbas also said he will seek a U.N. resolution to set a deadline for Israel to pull out of Palestinian lands captured in the 1967 war but did not include a three-year deadline as his aides had said he would. The recent Gaza war killed 2,100 Palestinians and has weakened Abbas domestically, with his Hamas rivals enjoying a surge of popularity among Palestinians for fighting Israel. Sixty-six soldiers and six civilians were killed on the Israeli side.
